Where Are All the Athletes At?

Luckily for the 2012 Olympians, this mistake didn't cost anyone a medal.

But how soon we all forget the controversial finish to the 25 mile cycling event during the Games of the III Olympiad held in 1904 in St. Louis, Missouri. Sure, everyone remembers that the Gold Medal went to Burton Downing in a race that was not even close. But no one remembers that the Silver Medal went to Arthur F. Andrews and not to George E. Wiley, even though all those who were there were sure that Wiley's last second push gave him second place by the slimmest of margins. Unfortunately, the photo finish evidence presented by Mr. Wiley was disallowed because the lens cap was not removed when the picture was taken.

The 1904 Olympics marked the end of United States dominance in Olympic cycling. Many claim that this is due to the large increase in Olympic participation by other nations beginning in 1908, but some of us know that this Lens Cap Issue was the main reason that US cycling lost its foothold and has never recovered.

This is NOT Funny!

Lens Cap Man likes to laugh as much as any other law abiding super hero. And Mr. Bean has always been one of his favorites. But this is no laughing matter. Oh, the horror!

Dark Military Maneuvers

Lens Cap Man keeps his nose out of political debate, but stories like this one show just how much of an international crisis the Lens Cap Issue is.

I distinctly remember getting a call to come to Israel's aid in February 2007, but I was stuck in a massive Lens Cap Fiasco at a West Texas Middle School. Thirty eight telephoto lens cameras being operated by twelve year old students during a photography lesson always leads to trouble!

Oh No! Continuity!

Lens Cap Man isn't allowed on closed television sets. That is why it takes lens cap investigators like GoatHerderEd to bring even popular TV shows to justice!

Your Finger is Nature’s Lens Cap

People often tell me that my services are needed less and less these days because so many people take pictures with their phones, which of course have no lens caps. Or do they?

The truth is that my job has become even harder now that anyone with a phone can snap a photo anytime, anywhere.

Your finger is nature’s lens cap. Be careful out there!

Lens Cap Day Merch on the Rise

You know how t-shirts are now advertising space?
Well check out these creative lens caps.
In preparation for what is sure to be the most successful Lens Cap Day yet, several designers are getting their Lens Cap merch on. I fully support this effort since it is much easier for me to spot a lens cap snafu when flying at 1,000 feet if the lens caps are colorfully displayed.

Eric Clapton in Distress

Just as Roger Federer was about to serve an ace, disaster struck for the guitar hero known as Slow Hand. Luckily, I was there to remove the lens cap and save the day. An autographed 1962 Fender Stratocaster now hangs in my Fortress of Eternal Light. Thank you Eric Clapton!
